True Christianity is not simply an intellectual acknowledgement of Biblical truth but is an experience of Christ Himself dwelling within the believers’ heart. In this series, taken from his famous series of sermons from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, Dr Lloyd-Jones shows that Christianity is a religion of the heart – a heart filled with Christ.
He begins this study by demonstrating the necessity and importance of the ‘Spiritual life’ and provides some practical and helpful insights into the reasons why so many experience weakness in this area. However, knowing the reality of Christ dwelling in the heart is not just for the limited few, but is available for all and is a very different experience from that of conversion. So central is this to our Christian life, that no believer should be happy until they know this life transforming experience for themselves. A study in experiential Christianity for all.
Nearly two hours of stimulating and fascinating material, as students of Westminster Seminary put Dr Lloyd-Jones in the hot seat for two fascinating Q&A sessions.
In the Spring of 1969 Dr Lloyd-Jones was asked by the faculty of Westminster Theological Seminary, in the USA, to give a series of lectures on the subject of preaching. These eventually appeared in book form, and as audio recordings under the title of “Preachers and Preaching”. What is not generally known is that Dr Lloyd-Jones was originally booked for eighteen lectures, but he completed his task in just sixteen. So he decided to use his final two sessions by opening up the floor to the students, and he gave them the opportunity to question him on any subject they wished. Beginning with questions related to the subject of preaching, the questioning soon opened up to cover a wide range of pastoral and theological topics.
These fascinating recordings, long thought lost, have only just been re-discovered, and are now being made available for the very first time. They offer a fascinating insight into a side of Dr Lloyd-Jones that is rarely seen, as he interacts with this group of lively students who were all preparing for pastoral ministry.
